Call for master's thesis topics for companies and organizations

For the first time, the Department of Geography of UT is inviting companies and organizations to propose topics for the master’s thesis for geography students.

What topics are we looking for?

The topics of master’s thesis are not clearly regulated, but they should be:

  • suitable for graduate students in geography;

  • useful for the company and society;

  • challenging, but doable for students.

If necessary, we can help by adapting the topic.

What to consider?

  • The topic must remain up to date for almost two years (in most cases, students choose the topic of their master's thesis at the beginning of their studies).

  • The volume of the master's thesis is 30 ECTS or about 780 hours of work. It includes the entire master's thesis process for the student, from the collection of background information to the formalization of the thesis.

  • UT's Department of Geography has master's students both from Estonia and abroad, so offers of topics are also welcome in English.

  • One supervisor comes from the organization that proposed the idea, and the other supervisor comes from the Department of Geography (if there is no suitable supervisor for the topic at UT, it may be difficult to offer the topic to students).

  • Although we advertise the topics among students, it must be taken into account that the topic may not be chosen by any student (in the current year).

  • Since it is a job that is of interest to the company, a scholarship is expected to be paid to the student.

What happens next?

Please submit your topic in the online form. We welcome topics throughout the year and deal with them on a case-by-case basis.
